Has anyone used SiteGround? Is it a good web host? There are many free web hosts, but I want to run a business site with my own domain. Any other suggestions for web hosts? I’m on a Mac and want to use iWeb.

Chosen Answer:
I was with Globat, but they have a problem with a hacker who attacks all of the index files on their servers. When it was clear the Globat staff could not stop him, I moved my sites to 2 different hosts. One host is inmotionhosting.com and the other site is webhostingpad.com.
although webhostingpad is cheaper, the better server is inmotionhosting. Faster upload times and more stable online time.
Now I’ve seen people get free domain names with their web host provider and then later want to move to a different host. Things get ugly when you want to move your domain name that they effectively own. So a wiser way to go is to buy your domain name from Dotster.com or some other domain name company. Then you own the domain with no strings attached and can move your site to wherever you please without domain ownership hassles.

I’ve been using GoDaddy (http://www.godaddy.com ) for years. Always up, fast (I’m 3,000 miles from the server – using them was a test), great tech support (the few times my brain went on vacation). Decent price too.
I’ve done a few recent reviews. You can take a look here: http://www.webguides4u.com.
There’s also helpful articles pertaining to establishing your hosting for the first time, and what you should be looking for in greater detail. The number one host that I ended up reviewing was http://www.hostmonster.com due to available widgets and add on programs as well as customer service level/availability, and uptime.
Being on a Mac shouldn’t really affect which host is used…for the most part, all of them should be able to work with you. Good luck with your venture!
